Root release notes | June 2026
We’re committed to keeping you fully up to speed with all of the features, enhancements and fixes we ship at Root. Here are all of the updates and improvements we shipped over the last month 🛠️
Features
We’re working on new features to expand what you can do on Root:
- Pin notes on Dashboard: You can now pin important notes to the top of your Notes log across claims, policies, applications, policyholders, tasks and other domains. Pinned notes can be ordered based on importance and unpinned whenever you want.
- "Cooling off period" cancellation reason: A new client cancellation reason of "Cooling off period" was added to the Policy view on Dashboard.
- Opt-in claims validation and decision hooks: Three new opt-in product-module settings were added:
validateClaimOnCreateto run pre-creation validation on claim requests, andrunBeforeClaimDecisionHook/runBeforeClaimDecisionAcknowledgedHookto allow modules to block claim decisions or their acknowledgements before they're applied. Read the docs. - Invoices on Root: We're working on new invoicing and receipts functionality for Policies on Dashboard. This feature is still in development.
- Data Adapter Queries on Dashboard: We're working on ways for you to query your data directly from Dashboard without having to set up complicated handlebars in Exports. The feature is still in development and testing.
Platform Enhancements
-
Performance Enhancements
We’ve introduced enhancements to improve stability, efficiency, and visibility across Root:
- Faster policy, application, and claim detail views: Duplicate data fetches were removed and notes are now loaded only when the Notes tab is opened. This delivers approximately a 30% reduction in load time per detail view.
- Improved reliability for large payment batches: Several improvements were made to reduce memory pressure when processing large payment batches, including streamed file generation for Nedbank, DebiCheck, and Vision debit-order submissions. High-volume debit-order runs are now more reliable.
-
Billing Enhancements
We’ve made several improvements to increase reliability, accuracy, and automation across Root’s billing processes.
- Scheduled payments for Collection Modules: Ongoing development of a new scheduled payments framework that will allow collection modules to schedule and submit their own payments to any provider of your choice.
- Continued work on SoftyComp integration: Ongoing development of new billing rails with SoftyComp as a Service Operator and TPPP.
- Continued work on the policy ledger: Ongoing improvements to the new policy ledger were made this month. This work remains behind an internal migration gate for testing and is not yet enabled for client organisations.
-
Bug fixes
We’ve addressed key issues to improve system reliability:
- Policy domain bug fixes: Several policy-domain issues were resolved:
-
Fixed a bug where policy alteration applied events displayed amounts in ZAR instead of the policy's actual currency.
-
Resolved an issue where activating a policy could result in a stale record being written to the database, even though the policy had in fact been activated correctly.
-
- Reliable large payment CSV imports: Resolved an issue where payment CSV imports of 10,000+ rows could fail with version conflicts or database limits during validation. Imports now handle large files reliably with safer retries.
- Payout requests no longer stuck when a decision is already acknowledged: Resolved an issue where a manually-created payout on a claim whose decision was already acknowledged could get stuck in a pending-approval hold state. New payouts are now created correctly and any existing stuck rows were released.
- Reply-to email validation removed: Resolved an issue where users were incorrectly blocked from updating the reply-to email address of notifications when the address had not been whitelisted.
- Policy domain bug fixes: Several policy-domain issues were resolved:
